Addressing Homelessness with High-Quality Housing

Congratulations to everyone involved as the ground is broken and work begins on the Duchy of Cornwall’s first housing project to directly address homelessness!

Located in Nansledan, Newquay, this pioneering low-carbon development will provide 24 high-quality homes with wraparound support, helping local people move forward with stability, dignity and care. It is a brilliant example of how thoughtful design, cross-sector collaboration and environmental responsibility can come together to meet urgent social needs.

Precision Engineering for a Low-Carbon Future

We are incredibly proud that Sydenhams Timber Engineering is supporting the project with timber frame structures designed to Passive House principles. This includes the use of our proprietary pre-insulated twin-wall panels, packed with UK-grown industrial hemp supplied by the GRWN Group.

The result is a super-insulated structural shell with dramatically reduced embodied carbon. Combined with foundations made of ultra-low carbon cement from CEMBLEND LTD, which has a footprint around one-sixth that of traditional mixes, this makes the project one of the most environmentally progressive of its kind.

A Collaborative Effort

Delivering a project with such significant social and environmental value takes an enormous team effort. Huge credit goes to the Duchy of Cornwall, St Petrocs and all the partners involved in bringing this vital and pioneering project to life.
