The architectural vision for this two-phase development in Southmoor called for high-specification luxury detached homes. The design relied heavily on generous glazing and flowing open-plan layouts to allow natural light to define the internal spaces. The primary challenge was providing a robust structural solution that could support these expansive, light-filled contemporary designs while simultaneously achieving the strict thermal performance and energy efficiency required for modern luxury living.
Appointed to design and deliver the timber frame structures across both phases of the development, Sydenhams Timber Engineering worked closely with developer John David Homes and architect Tony Holt Design. We engineered a bespoke timber frame solution capable of bringing this open and contemporary vision to life.
Our precision manufacturing accommodated the expansive architectural glazing and open layouts with total accuracy. To address the thermal requirements, we built high levels of insulation directly into the fabric of each home. By capitalising on the inherent efficiency of timber frame construction, our structural envelope was designed to drastically reduce heat loss and support lower energy bills over the long term.
