The Challenge

Island Harbour Marina is widely regarded as one of the best-kept secrets on the Solent. As a peaceful waterfront community perched mid-river on the Medina, it offers an exceptional lifestyle for its residents. However, this beautiful location posed highly unique logistical challenges for the construction phase. The site was heavily restricted and required scaffolding to be set directly on the water. Navigating this demanding environment meant the build required absolute precision, speed and reliability to ensure the structural phase could be completed safely.

OUR SOLUTION

Sydenhams Timber Engineering rose to the occasion, partnering with John Peck Construction to design, manufacture and assemble the timber frame homes for this exceptional development.

To mitigate the risks associated with the mid-river location, we engineered the timber frames off-site in our controlled manufacturing facility. This approach guaranteed millimetre accuracy and significantly reduced the amount of time required for complex on-site adjustments. Our expert assembly teams then navigated the restricted waterfront site to erect the structural timber components quickly, safely and efficiently over the water.

The Results

Despite the demanding location and the necessity of working over water, the project successfully delivered high-quality accommodation strictly to schedule.

The precision of our timber frames ensured a smooth and reliable assembly process, proving that off-site manufacturing is the ideal solution for logistically challenging sites. The finished homes sit perfectly within the peaceful marina, providing residents with a beautiful, high-performance living space in an extraordinary waterfront setting.
